A Lyra hoop, often simply called a "Lyra" or "aerial hoop," is a circular steel apparatus used for aerial acrobatics and performances. Material & Design: Most Lyras are made of steel, though some might be made of aluminum. They can be a single solid hoop or have one or more points where they open, often referred to as "tabs." These tabs are where the hoop attaches to its rigging.
Rigging: Lyras can be hung in multiple ways - from a single point or double point. Single point Lyras rotate easily, while double point Lyras are more stable.
Performance & Moves: Artists use the Lyra to perform various dynamic moves, including rolls, spins, poses, and drops. The act can be graceful, requiring flexibility and strength, or more dynamic with high momentum spins and drops.
